BALTIMORE, Md. (June 2, 2023) — Morgan State football will play in front of a national audience on the ESPN family of networks.
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has announced that the Bears' game against the defending Cricket Celebration Bowl champion North Carolina Central Eagles originally scheduled for Saturday, October 21 has been changed to Thursday, October 19, airing on ESPNU. The kickoff time for the much-anticipated contest is set for 7:30 p.m.
For the Bears, this will be their conference opener at Hughes Stadium.
The contest will mark the 45th meeting between the two schools. Morgan State leads the series against N.C. Central with an overall record of 24-18-2 since the teams first played on Nov. 15, 1930.
NCCU has won the last six meetings since 2015, including a 59-20 victory in their last matchup at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium during the 2021 season.
MSU's last victory against the Eagles was a 21-20 Homecoming win on Oct. 18, 2014 at Hughes Stadium.
The Cricket Celebration Bowl will be Saturday, Dec. 16 at 12 p.m., at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., aired live on ABC – meaning the bookends of the Div. I HBCU football season will air on network television.
The rest of the MEAC's 2023 ESPN football slate will be announced at a later date, in anticipation of MEAC Football Media Day, presented by Wells Fargo, on Friday, July 21.
