COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 25, 2023) --The Morgan State women's outdoor track and field team competed at the 2023 Weems Baskin Relays this weekend at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track hosted by the University of South Carolina. The meet began Friday and concluded Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bears would finish with six top-10 finishes, including two individual champions in
Rachel Field in the 3000-meter steeplechase and
Tia Jackson in the long jump.
How it Happened
- Tia Jackson a recorded personal best in long jump, jumping 5.95m, while also placing first in the meet.
- Rachel Field placed first in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 12:07.37.
- Sophomore, Ternine Lambert, placed third in the women's shot put, while throwing a personal record of 13.67m. She also added a sixth-place finish in the women's discus throw, throwing another personal record of 42.74m.
- Freshman, Deborah Adekayode finished third in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.49m.
- Johnelle Johnson set a personal record in the women's hammer throw, throwing 48.52m to place sixth. She also added a 10th-place finish in the women's shot put throwing, 12.56m.
- Freshman, Aleisha Robinson placed fourth in the women's 800m, while setting a new personal record of 2:21.16.
- Sophomore, Inara Shell, placed second in the women's triple jump, jumping 11.72m. She also added an eighth-place finish in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.45m.
