Morgan Men's Track and Field Opens The 2023-24 Season at the Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Dec. 2, 2023)
 -- The Morgan State men's track and field team opened up competition in the 2023-24 season at he annual Navy Invitational I in Annapolis, Md. The Bears notched six total top-5 all-time performances at Wesley A. Brown Field House. 
 
How it Happened 
 
    ● Junior Adrian Holley placed fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.00. Junior Derick Robinson placed 11th with a time of 7.08 and sophomore Antonio Sims finished 13th (7.11). Malik Brown clocked in with a time of 7.54 to place 22nd.
 
    ● Freshman Larry Hawkins III took ninth place in the 400m dash (51.92), while freshman Johnnie Maple (53.79) and Myles Smith (59.23) finished 14th and 15th place, respectively.
 

    ● Sophomore Antonio Sims placed 12th in the 200m dash by crossing the tape with a time of 22.44, while senior teammate Adrian Holley placed 16th (22.71).

    ● In the mile run, the duo of junior Devion Bryant and junior Jackson Waller posted 14th (4:41.66) and 15th place (4:47.04) performances, respectively.  Bryant also recorded a time of 2:00.94 to place fourth in the 800m run.

    ● Sophomore Dante Jackson placed fourth in the 500m dash with a a time 1:06.47, followed by a 10th place finish by freshman Aaron Bhagwan who ran a time of 1:13.21.

    ● The 4x400 meter relay team of Larry Hawkins III, Dante Jackson, Antonio Sims and Adrian Holley finished fifth in the event with a time of 3:23:95.
 
    ● In the triple jump, sophomore Omar McKenzie came in third place with a personal-best leap of 14.66m (48-01.25). Freshmen Isaac Rankin (13.73m) and Jared-Zane Achindu (13.42m) finished seventh and 10th place, respectively.
 
    ● Isaac Rankin earned fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 1.90m (6-02.75). 

    ● Malik Brown placed eighth in the pole jump with a height of 3.70m (12-01.50). 
 
    ● Sophomore Zackery Dillon took seventh place in the shot put with a toss of 14.84 (48-08.25).

Next Up 
The Bears will return to action at the Joe Handelman Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 9 in Princeton, N.J.
