BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 15, 2023)--The Morgan State women's indoor track and field team returned to action for the first time in 2023 as it traveled to Lexington, Va. to compete in the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Invitational (Jan. 13-14).
 
The Lady Bears had a productive two days with 15 top-10 finishes, including a first-place finish by the 4000 distance medley team and a new school record set in the pole vault.
 
On Friday, Jan. 14, junior Ishana Asinor broke Morgan's school record in the pole vault, by setting a personal-best mark with a height of 10 feet-10 inches.
 
Also on Friday, seniors Jalissa Emmens and Yasmine George and freshmen Aleisha Robinson and Asydiah Pray-Brown captured first in the 4000 distance medley relay in a winning time of 14:20.33.
 
The Lady Bears will head to State College, Pa. to compete in the Sykes & Sawbock Challenge (Jan. 27-28) hosted by Penn State University. 
 
How It Happened

• Alliayah Ottley ran a time of 8.79 to place third in the 60-meter hurdles.
• Rachel Field finished fifth in the 5000-meter run, running a time of 20:20.18.
• The Lady Bears' 4000-meter distance medley team of Jalissa Emmens, Yasmine George, Aleisha Robinson and Asydiah Pray-Brown won the event in a time of 14:20.33.
• Ishana Asinor set a school-record in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet-10 inches to also set a personal-best.
• In the weight throw Johnelle Johnson placed fourth with a toss of 47-9.75. Brylan Carter (42-7.00) was 10^th and Terine Lambert had a throw of 41-5.25 to finish 14^th.
• Tiana Bey finished 11^th in the triple jump with a leap of 32-11.25.
• Rachel Field came in sixth in the mile run, crossing the line in a time of 5:35.97. Jessica Lamborn (5:56.98) placed ninth, while Jalissa Emmens (6:03.96) was 11^th.
• Asydiah Pray-Brown ran a time of 2:30.82 to finish sixth in the 800 meter run. Rachel Field came in seventh, with a time of 2:33.00 and Jessica Lamborn (2:34.05) finished in eighth.
• Morgan State's 4X400 relay team of Tia Jackson, Asydiah Pray-Brown, Aliayah Ottley and Makenzie Harris finished the race in a time of 4:03.11 to place fourth.
• Inara Shell had a jump of 18-7.00 to place sixth in the long jump.
• Terine Lambert placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 44-11.75. Johnelle Johnson came in sixth with a mark of 41-1.75.
