COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 26, 2022) – The Morgan State track & field teams wrapped up the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina on Saturday with a field day of action at Sheila and Morris Cregger Track.
 
The Bears finished the weekend with six top 5 finishes.
 
Zackery Dillon, the reigning MEAC Field Performer of the Week, turned in another strong performance for the Bears. The freshman took second place in the discus with a personal best toss of 53.28m – currently ranks No. 1 in the MEAC. He also took second place in the shot put with a mark of 16.80m (55-1.5)
 
Sophomore John Purvis finished third place in the hammer throw with a personal best toss of 48.22m. He added a fifth place finish in the discus (15.46m).

Lamar Davis took fourth in the men's invitational section of the long jump with a wind-aided mark of 7.31m (23-11.75). Kobe-Jordan Rhooms placed eighth with a mark of 7.00m.

Davis also placed 11th in the 100m dash invitational with a time of 10.66. Adrian Holley (10.74) and Ali Bowens (10.77) placed 14th and 16th place, respectively.
 
Sophomore Justin Alston turned in a ninth place performance in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:56.33.
 
Freshman Duane Kizer raced to an eighth place finish in the 110m hurdles with a season-best time of 14.70.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Demier Shipley, Emmanuel Ibeh, Kobe-Jordan Rhooms and Keon Rantin ran a 3:18.12, taking home a fifth place finish.
 
The Bears' 4x100-meter relay team of Lamar Davis, Keon Rantin, Ali Bowens and Adrian Holley placed sixth by crossing the tape with a time of 41.01.
