NORFOLK, Va. (March 14, 2022)-Morgan State senior Aliya Ewell was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, while junior Victoria Fletcher was named MEAC Pitcher of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola on Monday. Howard's Victoria Brown was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.

Ewell hit .500 (4-for-8) with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs to help Morgan State to a 2-0 record over the weekend in the Mount St. Mary's Tournament. A native of Portland, Ore., Ewell went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs in a 7-0 win over host Mount St. Mary's. In an 8-0 victory over Cornell, Ewell hit a home run and drove in a game-high three runs.

Fletcher tallied eight strikeouts, while allowing just one hit in a 7-0 complete-game shutout of Mount St. Mary's in the opener on Friday. As a batter, the Huntington, Md. native added a hit and scored a run.

The Lady Bears (6-7), winners of two straight, return to the field on Wednesday, March 16 when they travel to Fairfax, Va. to take on George Mason in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
