Lady Bears Have Seven Top-Five Finishes At 2nd Annual Kenneth Giles Invitational

Jackson, Shell Both Earn IC4A Qualifying Marks.

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 14, 2022) – The Morgan State women's indoor track and field team spent the weekend at what has become a familiar site for the past two meets, as it took part in the 2nd annual Kenneth Giles Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
 
Competing in their final regular season tuneup before the upcoming conference championship, the Lady Bears finished with seven top-five performances and two IC4A qualifying marks over the weekend.
 
On the track Rachel Field placed third in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:24.69.
 
Yasmine George was clocked at 58.63 seconds to place fourth in the 400 meter dash.
 
Morgan's 4X400 relay team of Yasmine George, Destiny Thompson, Michelle Kamara and Alliayah Ottley would run a time of 4:00.77 to place seventh.
 
Tia Jackson led the field team with her second-place finish in the long jump after recording an IC4A qualifying jump of 19-feet, 9.5 inches (5.80m). Inara Shell would place fifth after jumping 18-feet, 0.75 inches (5.58m). Shell would also record the team's other 1C4A qualifying mark, when she jumped 39-feet, 2.25 inches (11.94m) to place fourth in the triple jump.
 
Miazziah Rose recorded a height of 5-feet, 1.75 inches to finish tied for third in the high jump.
 
Terine Lambert (43-feet-1.5 inches) and Johnelle Johnson (42-feet-2.25 inches) placed fifth and sixth, respectively in the shot put.
 
Ishana Asinor recorded a height of 9-feet-6.25 inches in the pole vault to finish in sixth.
 
The Lady Bears return to the Virginia Beach Sports Center next week for the third consecutive meet, this time it will be for the 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Championship, hosted by Norfolk State (Monday, Feb. 21-Wednesday, Feb. 23.).
