BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 8, 2022)--The Morgan State volleyball team returned to the court this evening and dropped a 3-0 (27-25, 10-25, 11-25) decision to visiting Delaware State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest on Tuesday evening at Hill Field House.

Alondra Maldonndo led Delaware State with 10 kills, while hitting .714 with no errors. Sydney Lewis was perfect on the evening, recording six kills on six attempts for a 1.000 hitting percentage. The Hornets would finish the match with an attack percentage of .410.

Morgan State (3-23, 2-10 MEAC) gave Delaware State all it could handle in the first set. The Lady Bears broke a 20 all time by scoring three points to take a 23-20 advantage. A service error by Morgan State ended the mini 3-0 run, but
Makila Billingsley recorded a kill to put the hosts ahead 24-21. Delaware State would counter with three straight points to even the score at 24-24. A kill by
Trinity Carruthers gave Morgan a 25-24 lead, but the Hornets would fight back to score the next three points, capped off by back-to-back attack errors by Morgan State, to earn the 27-25 victory.

Delaware State (20-6, 10-3 MEAC) recorded 17 kills and hit .333 in the opening set, while Morgan State tallied 16 kills for an attack percentage of .256. The Hornets then hit an impressive .550 with 12 kills on 20 attempts and only one error in the second set.

The Lady Bears were led by Billingsley, who finished with 10 kills and
Jourdan Page, who added nine kills.
Mackenzie Jefferson recorded 16 assists and had nine digs and both of Morgan's two service aces. Carruthers finished with 12 assists.

Delaware State held a 5.0-3.0 blocks advantage over Morgan State.
Melanie Battle led the team with two blocks, including one solo. Delaware State's Kelsie Dawson totaled three solo blocks.

Morgan State has a quick turnaround, as it travels to Princess Anne, Md. on Wednesday, Nov. 10 to face Maryland Eastern Shore in a MEAC contest at 1 p.m. at the Hytche Athletic Center. The match was originally scheduled for this past Sunday but was postponed.
