NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 13, 2021)-Morgan State freshman Madison Grace was selected as the Mid-Eastern  Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today.
 
This is the first MEAC Weekly honor for Grace and Morgan State this season.
 
Delaware State sophomore Alondra Maldonado was named MEAC Player of the Week, while Coppin State junior Andrea Tsvetanova earned Setter of the Week honors and Coppin State junior Ashley Roman was named Defensive Player of the Week.
 
A native of Clinton Township, Mich., Grace averaged 4.7 kills per set to help Morgan State to a 1-2 weekend at the George Mason Invitational (Sept. 10-11). She would be named to the all-tournament team after hitting .380 for the week, leading the Lady Bears with 66 kills, while adding four digs and two blocks, including a solo.
 
Grace tallied 16 kills and a dig in the opener against Robert Morris (9/10) and later that evening hit .500 with a match- and season-high 25 kills, two digs and a block assist to lead the Lady Bears to their first win of the season, following a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the host Patriots. The 5-foot-10 outside hitter concluded the tournament hitting .412 with another 25 kills, a dig and a solo block in the finale against Marist (9/11).
