HARRISONBURG, Va. (April 17, 2021)- Morgan State junior Miazziah Rose captured the high jump title at the James Madison University (JMU) Invitational on Saturday. Rose, who was Morgan State's lone champion on the day, had a jump of 5-5.00 (1.65m), which matches her season-best.
 
Rose's victory was one of eight top-10 finishes for the Lady Bears on the day.  
 
On the track, sophomore Dejah Tinsley placed third in the 400 hurdles with a season-best time of 1:04.76 and also placed fourth in the 100 hurdles, crossing the line in 14.97 seconds.
 
Sophomore Yasmine George placed ninth in the 400 meter dash, crossing the line in 58.19 seconds, while senior Kimani Davis ran a season-best 58.58 seconds to finish 10^th.
 
Junior Rachel Field, who was competing in the 3000 steeplechase for the first time, finished in a time of 12:24.50 to place ninth. Field also set a personal best in the javelin with a toss of 111-8.00.
 
Fellow junior Ayanna Henry finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 36-11.00.
 
Morgan State will wrap up the regular season when it travels to Greensboro, N.C. this weekend to compete in the N.C. A&T Aggie Classic Twilight on Saturday, April 24 at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State. It will be the Lady Bears' second visit to N.C. A&T in two weeks.
 
This year's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship will also take place on the A&T campus on Friday, May 7-Saturday, May 8.
