Bears Mourn Loss of Former Great Harvey Palmore

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Morgan State University is saddened to report the death of former Bear offensive lineman Harvey Palmore who died on Wednesday (Aug. 5).

Palmore was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and was raised in Washington D.C. (Eastern High School).  The 75-year-old passed away in Greensboro, N.C.

Harvey Palmore, also known as "Rock", was a 15th round draft pick as an offensive guard for the Cincinnati Bengals in 1968. He played two years ('69 & '70) with the ACFL's Bridgeport Jets and one with the Long Island Chiefs.

Palmore played for legendary Morgan State head coach Earl Banks (1964-67) and graduated in 1968.

He was a member of a Bears undefeated team that had been the first to integrate the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, defeating the West Chester (Pennsylvania) Rams in 1966. In 1967, they were again undefeated and ranked in the national Top 10 by The Associated Press.
