COLUMBIA, S.C. (Jan. 20, 2020)-The Morgan State women's track and field team competed over the weekend at the Gamecock Opener, held at the South Carolina Indoor Track & Field Complex on the University of South Carolina campus.
 
The Lady Bears would finish the weekend with seven top-10 finishes, including two silvers.
 
On the track, Valencia McDowell ran a season-best in the 800 meter run, crossing the line in a time of 2:11.66. Teammate Infinnatie Rowe came in fourth with a time of 2:12.66.
 
The Lady Bears' 4X400 meter relay B team of Michelle Kamara, Dejah Tinsley, Alliayah Ottley and Diamond Moore finished 13th in 4:07.44.
 
Morgan State's field events squad was led by Alantra Mines, who posted a personal-best 41-0.25 in the triple jump invite to earn silver. Mines jump was also an ECAC qualifying mark and currently leads the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Ayanna Henry finished seventh with a leap of 36-9.75.
 
Other top finishes included Jannah Sharpe, who had a throw of 49-4.50 to place fourth in the weight throw and Miazziah Rose, competing in the triple jump, finished sixth with a jump of 36-6.75. Diamond Moore came in sixth in the high jump invite with a height of 5-3.00.
 
Next up for Morgan State will be a trip to Lynchburg, Va. to compete in the Liberty Kick-off (Jan. 24-25).
