PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 26, 2019)-With the heptathlon and decathlon having the spotlight on Tuesday and Wednesday, the official start of the 125
th running of the Penn Relays got underway on Thursday at the University of Pennsylvania's historic Franklin Field.
Several Lady Bears competed on the opening day with
Diamond Moore leading the way with an eighth-place finish in the women's high jump-college section, finishing with a height of 5-4.25. Fellow teammate
Miazziah Rose finished tied for ninth with a mark of 5-2.50.
Kimani Davis and
Daijah Davis-Hines both took part in the 400 meter hurdles championship and finished 27th and 29th, respectively. Davis ran a time of 1:02.97, while Davis-Hines finished in 1:03.25.
Morgan State's relay teams also got started on Thursday. The 4X100 meter team of
Kevena Jones,
Alantra Mines,
Dinedye Denis and
Annastacia Barham ran a time of 46.37 to place 15th during the heats. The quartet advanced to the 4X100-college section, which will take place on Friday.
The 4X400 meter relay team also took to the track on Thursday. Dinedye
Dinedye Denis,
Valencia McDowell,
Infinnatie Rowe and
Annastacia Barham placed 12th during the heats, crossing the line in a time of 3:41.87. That time advanced the squad to Saturday's 4X400-college section.
