BALTIMORE, Md.--
Andrew Magee has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Football Administration as announced by Director of Athletics
Edward Scott. Magee's promotion comes after serving the program as the Director of Football since December 2017, overseeing both operations and academics. In his new role, Magee will assist with sport supervision, lead the day to day operations of the program, supervise all academics, assist with future game scheduling, and manage the team's travel budget.
Supervising the academic support program for football, Magee has led the program to unprecedented heights in the classroom. The Bears have achieved both the highest single-year APR and GPA in program history.
"Andy has made a tremendous impact on the football program and our entire athletic department over the last two-years, his passion for helping student-athletes in the classroom and in life is contagious. This new position will allow Andy to serve in a greater leadership capacity, while providing additional support for the coaches and student-athletes in our football program," said Scott.
Prior to arriving in Baltimore, Magee was a member of the Texas A&M athletics staff. During his time as a student-athlete academic mentor, Magee guided Aggie student-athletes to success in the classroom and in their post-athletic professional careers. Magee participated in football recruiting events for prospective student-athletes as well as a gameday outreach program to provide campus leaders insight into Texas A&M football operations.
While in College Station, Magee earned his Master's degree in Public Administration with concentrations in Education Policy and Management as well as State and Local Government from The Bush School of Government and Public Service, where he was awarded The Dean's Certificate of Leadership by retired Air Force General, Mark Welsh.
A former two-sport student-athlete, Magee earned his Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Maryland and was most notably a two-year letter winner as a fullback for the UCLA Bruins and a member of the 2009 Eagle Bank Bowl Championship team.
During his time as a student-athlete, Magee achieved Academic All Conference Honors, Dean's List recognition, and was a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
As a quarterback at Chadwick High School, Magee passed for over 7,000 yards and 75 touchdowns. He was named All State, All Southern California, All CIF, All Area 1st Team, League MVP, and Lions All Star Game MVP. He was ranked as highly as top 50 in the nation at the quarterback position. In the Fall of 2018, he was inducted into his high school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
