CARY, N.C. (October 5, 2019) --  The Morgan State men's cross country team finished T-7th overall out of 14 teams at the Cedric Walker HBCU Invitational, held at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday morning.
Morgan State finished the course tied with Lincoln (Pa.) for 7th place by earning 200 points and averaging a combined time of 2:47.35.Â
North Carolina A&T finished in first place with 24 points, followed by Benedict College (43 pts), Maryland-Eastern Shore (108 pts) and Morehouse (119 pts).Â
Benedict's Mathew Chesum (27:59.9) captured first place in the 8k race, while North Carolina A&T's Regan Kimtai, Devon Williams and Morris Kimble placed second, third and fourth place respectively. Benedict's Kelvin Kiplagat (29:11.6) placed fifth to round out the top five.Â
Freshman Justin Alston led the way for the Bears by finishing the meet in 25th in a field of 92 runners with a time of 31:50.3. Freshmen Rashaan Allen Jr. turned in a time of 32:49.3 to finish in 34th place and Justin Coelho placed 46th with a 33:44.0.
NEXT UP: The Bears will compete in Smyrna, Delaware at the Delaware State Alumni Run on Friday, Oct. 11.
