BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 12, 2019)-The Morgan Sate women's indoor track and field team returned to the track for the first time in 2019 on Friday, as the Lady Bears set out to defend their team title from a year ago at the HBCU Battle at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York.
 
The Lady Bears would finish with 28 top-10 finishes, including four event champions to help Morgan State to a second-place third finish with 130.5 points. Hampton would claim this year's team title with 149 points, while Howard placed third with 128.5 points. Coppin State (42) finished behind Morgan State in fourth, while Delaware State (38) took fifth.
 
Infinnatie Rowe would have a big day for the Lady Bears, finishing with two first-place medals and adding a third to complete her day. Rowe would capture the 800 meter run title in a time of 2:17.12 to remain unbeaten in the event this indoor season.
 
Rowe would join teammates Dinedye Denis, Valencia McDowell and Annastacia Barham to help the 4X400 meter relaty team claim the title with a winning time of 3:53.73.
 
Rowe's third-place finish came in the mile run with a time of 5:35.40. Rachel Field (5:41.24) and Zakyra Haynie (5:52.00) placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the mile run. Nofisat Adeyemi would run a time of 9.05 to place sixth in the 60 meter hurdles.
 
The Lady Bears' 4X200 relay team (Kevena Jones, Jon Glass, Naomi Brown and Destiny Thompson) finished second, crossing the line in a time of 1:44.72.
 
Dinedye Denis captured the Lady Bears' other individual title on the track, winning the 400 meter dash in a time of 57.91.Daijah Davis-Hines ran a time of 59.12 to place sixth, while Naomi Brown came in seventh in a time of 59.21.
 
Other top performances on the track came from Annastacia Barham, who placed second in the 500 meter dash, crossing the line in a time of 1:15.96. Valencia McDowell was next to cross the line, finishing third in a time of 1:16.58. Barham also ran 25.43 to finished fourth in the 200 meter dash.
 
In the field events, Diamond Moore captured the high jump title with a jump of 5-5.75. Rose Miazziah came in second with a mark of 5-1.00.
 
Nikelene McLean finished second in the weight throw college section with a personal-best toss of 52-11.00. Zhane Washington placed fourth in the triple jump, recording a leap of 36-9.00.
 
Next up for the Lady Bears will be the Wesley Brown Navy Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26 in Annapolis, Md.
