Cross Country Opens Season with Solid Outing at Towson Invitational

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (Aug. 31, 2018)-The Morgan State men's cross country team began the 2018 season on Friday afternoon at the Towson Invitational, held at Oregon Ridge State Park. McDaniel captured the meet with 28 points (1:25:50), while the Bears finished as runners-up with a time of 1:26.44. Gallaudet placed third with 79 points (1:41:47) and Coppin State was fourth with 105 points and a time of 2:02:12.

Morgan State freshmen Jonathan Johnson and Nahshon Robinson paced the Bears in their first collegiate meet by recording a second (16:22.04) and third place (16:48.08) finish, respectively. Junior Halim Joseph added a fourth place finish with a time of 17:03.64 in the 5000 meter race.

Freshman Elisee Djapa placed eighth with a time of 17:42.67, while freshman David Deloatch (18:47.42) finished 11^thand senior Fernandes Boyd (21:25.9) placed 20^th.

McDaniel's Gavin Gibson captured the individual title in a time of 15:28.80.

Morgan State will travel to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe Delaware State on Saturday, Sept. 8 for the DSU Hornet Invitational in Smyrna, Del.
