TAMPA, Fla. (May 24, 2018)-The 2018 collegiate season came to an end for Morgan State junior Annastacia Barham Thursday afternoon on the opening day of the NCAA Track & Field Championships - East Preliminary Round, hosted by the University of South Florida.
Barham, who was competing in the 400 meter dash, would run a time of 54.47 seconds to place fifth in her Heat. Barham's time would rank 41st overall out of the 48 competitors.
Only the top three finishers in each of the six heats along with the next six fastest times would advance to Friday's quarterfinal round at 1:15 p.m. From there, the top 12 finishers will qualify for the semifinal and final rounds of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held June 6-9 at historic Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.
A native of Manchester, Jamaica, Barham captured gold in the 400 meter dash in a time of 54.81 during the ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J. (May 13). A week earlier she took second at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships with a personal-best time of 53.35.
