BALTIMORE, Md. (March 29, 2015)-The Morgan State women's tennis team remained unbeaten at home, following a 4-0 non-conference victory over visiting Colgate on Sunday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Courts.
Â
The win improved the Lady Bears (3-11) to 3-0 at home this season and put an end to a two-match losing skid.
Â
Morgan State earned the doubles' point, by winning the two doubles matches that were played.
Chelsi Russell and
Danielle Thompson teamed together to defeat Colgate's team of Jennifer Ho and Katie Grant, 8-6 in a No. 1 match.
Kayla Price and
Jasmine Edwards were paired together and defeated Hannah Fleckenstein and Kaelin Brittin, also by an 8-6 score at the No. 2 spot.
Â
In singles action, the Lady Bears won the first three matches for the 4-0 victory. Russell, Thompson and Price would all earn straight sets victories at the No. 1-3 positions, respectively.
Â
"Our women took care of business today, and we still aren't fully healthy," said Morgan State head coach
Matt Townes. "We have been able to find a good rhythm at home so far this year, and our confidence is growing. Spring Break has been really good to a couple of our players, with Thompson and Price winning all of their singles matches.
Â
"We are expecting this strong play to continue from everyone on our team for the rest of the season. Thank you to our home crowd again, especially our softball team for the tremendous support."
Â
Morgan State will next host Georgetown on Thursday, April 2.
