Morgan State Claims 2026 MEAC Women’s Tennis Title In Thrilling 4-3 Victory

CARY, N.C., (April 25, 2026)--Morgan State captured its third Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Tennis Championship title with a 4–3 victory over Norfolk State at Cary Tennis Park.

The Bears, making their third championship appearance (1994, 2018, 2026), returned to the top of the MEAC for the first time since winning the title in 2018.

Norfolk State opened strong in doubles play, securing the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Yuliya Yurkova and Julia Daroszewska defeated Lauryn Hall and Marta Serra Carles, 7–5. The Spartans also earned a win at No. 3, where Yana Klimchuk and Regina Urbiola topped Tyler Williams and Damila Arslan, 6–4.

Singles competition proved to be a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading points throughout the match. The championship ultimately came down to the No. 3 singles position, where Morgan State's Amira Bargaoui delivered a dramatic comeback victory over Norfolk State's Regina Urbiola to clinch the 4–3 team win.

With the victory, Morgan State earns the MEAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament.

The Bears will learn their tournament placement during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, April 27.
