BALTIMORE, Md. - The 2014 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference co-champion Morgan State Bears rewrote their own school records book and altered a number of other records during their chase for the school's first MEAC championship since 1979, and it's first NCAA Division I Playoff berth.
Â
When the 2014 season came to a close after a historic run to the FCS Playoffs, coach
Lee Hull's team had not only made one of the most improbable runs in MEAC history, but it also cemented its place in Morgan State lore by setting or tying 57 season or game records, including Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and school records.
Â
From sophomore running back
Herb Walker Jr. setting the school single season rushing record (1,408 - ranked +No. 14 in FCS), to
Chris Moller's school record 28 consecutive PATs, to
Moses Skillon setting the school record in touchdown passes in a season (11) and tossing 5 TDs in a game on offense, and
Christopher Robinson setting the school record in sacks in a season and in a career on defense, 2014 was full of chart-topping performances for the Bears.
Â
A total of 19 team records were set, but the Bears mark for home wins in a season, capturing the MEAC championship and earning its first FCS Playoff berth will long be remembered.
