Adams, Holmes Take MSU’s Top Honors

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Morgan State University basketball stars Corin “Tiny” Adams and Reggie Holmes were recognized as the female and male student-athletes of the year at the 24th Annual Athletics Awards Banquet held at the MSU Student Center Theatre on MSU's campus.

Corin Adams concluded what has been an illustrious career at Morgan State by being selected for the second straight year as the school's female athlete of the year. She was also named the MEAC Player of the Year and received All-MEAC first team honors for the third consecutive year. Adams finished her career as the school's all-time leading scorer with 2,058 points and is the Lady Bears' all-time leader in assists (455) and steals (404). She became the first player (male or female) to score 2,000 points at Morgan State and totaled a season-best and school single-season record with 581 points. Adams also led the team in steals (106), assists (104) and was second in blocks (22). She ranked fifth in the nation in steals per game (3.5) and 17th in scoring (19.4) and helped the Lady Bears to their highest MEAC regular season finish ever (tied for 2nd). “Tiny” set the school's all-time scoring record with 21 points against Norfolk State, giving her 1,994 and passing Marvin Webster (1,990) and became the school's all-time career steals leader on Feb. 1, 2010, after recording four steals at North Carolina A&T. She completed her career by being named to the ECAC Division I All-Star second team.

Reggie Holmes guided Morgan State to a 27-10 overall mark, including 15-1 in the MEAC, while helping the Bears capture their third straight MEAC regular season title and second straight MEAC Tournament title. He completed the season averaging 21.8 points and 4.3 points for the Bears, who made their second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Holmes was named MEAC Player of the Year, received All-MEAC first team honors, and finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in MSU men's basketball history with 2,051 points. He scored 30 or more points six times and totaled double-figures 24 times and ranked 10th in the nation in scoring average. Holmes set the school's single-season scoring record with 796 points and ranked second in the nation during the regular season with 784 points. He tallied a career-high 36 points against Coppin State on Senior Day to become the school's all-time leading scorer and notched 34 points to help Morgan pull out a shocking 97-94 win at Arkansas (11/24). He was also named to the CollegeInsider.com Lou Henson (Mid-Major) All-America Team.

For the third time since joining Morgan State, head men's basketball coach Todd Bozeman earned the school's Coach of the Year honors. Todd Bozeman led the Bears to a 27-10 mark, 15-1 in the MEAC, a third straight MEAC regular season title and their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, thus becoming the first repeat MEAC champion since Hampton in 2001-02. Bozeman guided Morgan State to a season-opening victory since 1988 in a win at Albany and led the Bears to their first win over a SEC team in school history, following a win at Arkansas. The program tallied a season-long 11-game winning streak, as well as a 10-game MEAC winning streak to start conference play. Bozeman was named MEAC Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season and earned BTRC/BASN Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
