Morgan State Women’s Tennis Swats Hornets, 6-1

Williams extends singles winning streak to 10 straight.

Box Score DOVER, Del. (April 7, 2026)--Morgan State returned to the tennis courts on Tuesday afternoon and defeated host Delaware State, 6-1 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match.
 
Morgan State improved to 11-7 overall, 3-1 in the MEAC, while the Hornets dropped to 2-11, 1-4 MEAC.
 
The Lady Bears won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches for good measure to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
 
Morgan State then earned wins in five of the six contests to claim the 6-1 victory. Michaela Stephens was successful at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Delaware State's Catherine Goldman. Amira Bargaoui and Marta Serra Carles each needed an extra set to claim victories for the Lady Bears. Bargaoui held off Hannah Watkins in a No. 3 contest 6-3, 2-6, 7-5, and Carles knocked off Sia Mahajan 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot.
 
Tyler Williams would win her No. 5 match, defeating Maite Bou Safont in straight sets 6-1, 7-5. The win marked Williams' 10th consecutive victory in a row. Lauryn Hall closed out singles action, claiming a 6-2, 6-3 win over Alba Benedito at No. 6.
 
The Lady Bears will close out the non-conference slate on Wednesday, April 8, when they visit Towson at 3 p.m.
