NORFOLK, Va. (April 21, 2026)--Morgan State freshman
Ilya Maltsev was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the first weekly honor this season for Maltsev. Delaware State freshman Marcin Andrzejczak was named MEAC Player of the Week.

A native of Moscow, Mockba, Maltsev closed out the regular season with a 2-0 mark after earning a No. 2 singles victory over Howard's Marcus Weekes. Maltsev also teamed with
Abdulraheem Isa at No. 1 doubles and captured a 6-3 win over the Bison's tandem of Kamran McIntosh-Ross and Michael Major Jr.

The Bears (7-11, 2-3 MEAC) will now get ready for this week's MEAC tennis championships, held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. (April 23-25).

Morgan State, the fourth seed, will face a familiar foe when it takes on Beltway rival Howard, the fifth seed, in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
