NORFOLK, Va. (March 9, 2026)--Morgan State junior pitcher Millie Cousins was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It's the first weekly honor this season for Cousins and the second week in a row for Morgan State, as Serena Rodriguez earned pitcher of the week honors the previous week (March 2).
 
Norfolk State's Maddy Morris was named MEAC Player of the Week, while teammate Samantha Stevenson was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.
 
A native of Sydney, Australia, Cousins (1-4) allowed two runs on six hits in 6.1 innings of work to earn a 5-2 win over UMBC. It was the program's first win of the season and the first over UMBC since the 2018 season, thus ending a seven-game losing skid to the Retrievers. Cousins also scattered four walks, while limiting the Retrievers to a .273 batting average.  
 
Morgan State (1-12) will now get ready for this weekend's MEAC season opening series when it travels to Orangeburg, S.C., to take on South Carolina State. The three-game series gets underway on Sunday, March 14 with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The series will wrap up with a single game on Sunday, March 15 at noon.
