Softball To Compete Nearby In UMBC Round Robin #2

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 7, 2026)--The Morgan State softball team will stay near home for the second weekend in a row as it competes in the UMBC Round Robin #2 (March 6-8), hosted by the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

With Friday's opening day of the tournament canceled, due to rain, the action will get underway on Saturday morning when Morgan State faces UAlbany at 10 a.m. The two programs were also scheduled to meet the day before. Morgan State will conclude Saturday facing host UMBC at 3 p.m.

On Sunday, the Lady Bears will take on Syracuse at 10 a.m., before taking on UMBC in the finale at 12:30 p.m. All games will be played at The Diamond at UMBC.

The Lady Bears (0-10) enter the weekend in search of their first win this season. Last weekend Morgan State competed in Towson's DeMarini Invite.

Junior pitcher Serena Rodriguez was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Pitcher of the Week by the league office on Monday. A native of Simi Valley, Calif., Rodriguez appeared in all five games and pitched a total of 14.0 innings, while recording five strikeouts, all against Towson in the two games against the Tigers.
