Williams Named MEAC Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week

NORFOLK, Va. (March 24, 2026)--Morgan State sophomore Tyler Williams was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week. It is the first weekly honor this season for Williams. Norfolk State's Yana Klymchuk was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.

A native of Baltimore, Williams put together an impressive week, going a combined 8-0 in singles and doubles competition to help the Lady Bears to a 3-1 record, during their trip to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Williams, who played three singles matches at the No. 5 spot and one at No. 6, consistently earned straight-set wins throughout the week. She began the week playing her lone match at No. 6 singles, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win against Fairleigh Dickinson. Her remaining three singles contests would be at No. 5, where she secured wins against Drake (6-0, 6-1), Marist (6-3, 6-1) and Rider (6-1, 6-1).

Williams also spent the week paired with doubles partner Damla Arslan at the No. 3 position, going a perfect 4-0 against their counterparts from FDU (6-2), Drake (6-4), Marist (7-5) and Rider (6-3).

Morgan State (7-6) returns to the court on Wednesday, March 25 when it visits Loyola University Maryland at 2 p.m. at McClure Tennis Center at Ridley Athletic Complex.
