BALTIMORE, Md. (March 7, 2026)--The Morgan State women's tennis team returned to the courts for the first time in two weeks on Saturday and ended a two-match losing skid with two home wins on the day. The Lady Bears defeated Frostburg State 6-1 in the morning at Lake Clifton Courts then earned a 4-0 victory that evening against Mount St. Mary's at Twin Lakes Racquet Club.
Morgan State improved to 4-5 on the season with the wins, while Frostburg State dropped to 3-5 and Mount St. Mary's fell to 2-7.
The visiting Bobcats claimed the doubles point, following wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles to jump out to a 1-0 advantage. Morgan State countered by winning all six singles contests for the 6-1 victory.
In the second match of the day, the host Lady Bears earned victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead. Morgan State then claimed the first three singles positions to win the match, 4-0.
Amira Bargaoui earned a straight sets victory over the Mountaineers' Emma Perkins 7-5, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot.
Julia Jeffrey held off Eirini Tsakiri 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and
Marta Serra Carles also needed three sets, as she bounced back to win her No. 3 singles match over Venus Tang 1-6, 6-2, 6-0.
Next Up: The Lady Bears will be off until March 17, when Morgan State takes on Fairleigh Dickinson in Orlando, Fla. at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Center.
