BOGANS NAMED MEAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sophomore guard Michaela Bogans was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week (2/23). It was the first-ever MEAC weekly honor for Bogans. A native of Augusta, Ga., Bogans recorded her first collegiate double-double, finishing with a career- and game-high 10 steals and 11 points, while adding five assists and four rebounds in a win at South Carolina State (2/16). She would fall one shy of tying the school record of 11 steals in a game held by Corin Adams (11/21/07-NC Central), Kaira Warfield (2/4/96-UMES) and Mary Frazier (1/10/81-West Chester). Bogans' 10 steals currently lead the MEAC this season and are the most in a game by a Morgan State player since the 2010-11 season when Monesha Davis collected 10 steals against Northwestern State (11/27/10).

WELCOME BACK: Baltimore natives Gabrielle Johnson and Ja'la Bannerman returned to the lineup during the Lady Bears' game against Delaware State (2/21). SAYING GOODBYE: The Lady Bears will say goodbye to nine players (Ja'la Bannerman, Jael Butler, Kimora Daly, Mihjae Hayes, Sierra Headquist, Tiyanna James, Gabrielle Johnson, Kailyn Nash and Success Prysock) who will play in their final collegiate home game at Hill Field House on Thursday, March 5. Morgan State will honor its seniors on 'Senior Night' prior to the Lady Bears' home finale against crosstown rival Coppin State at 5:30 p.m.

CLOSING OUT AT HOME: The Lady Bears will close out the 2025-26 regular season playing their final four MEAC games all in the friendly confines of Hill Field House. The four-game stretch begins with Delaware State on Saturday, Feb. 21 for Band, Cheer and Alumni Day, followed by three-time reigning MEAC Tournament champion Norfolk State on Thursday, Feb. 26. Morgan State will then close out the homestand with back-to-back games against its rivals. First up will be Beltway rival Howard on Saturday, Feb. 28 for Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day and the season finale against crosstown rival Coppin State on Thursday, March 5 for Senior Night.

BOGANS JOINS DOUBLE DIGIT STEALS CLUB: Morgan State junior guard Michaela Bogans recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the win at S.C. State (2/16). Bogans' 10 steals are the most by a Morgan State player since the 2010-11 season, when Moneshia Davis collected 10 steals against Northwestern State (11/27/10) and fell one shy of tying the school record of 11 steals held by Corin Adams (11/21/07; North Carolina Central), Kaira Warfield (2/24/96; Maryland Eastern Shore), and Mary Frazier (1/10/81; West Chester.

STARTING OVER: Morgan State will look to start a new winning streak when it faces the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State on Monday (2/16) afternoon. The Lady Bears had defeated South Carolina State 14 consecutive times until last month's 62-59 loss in the first meeting this season in Baltimore (1/10).

JAMES SCORES CAREER HIGH 23: Tiyanna James scored a career-high 23 points in the loss at North Carolina Central (2/12). A native of Virginia Beach, Va., James shot 7-of-14 from the floor and connected on four three-pointers, while shooting 83% (5-of-6) from the free throw line. She also had one assist, a rebound and two steals. Her 23 points surpassed her previous season high of 17 points scored in the MEAC opener at Maryland Eastern Shore (1/3).

THE RIVALRY CONTINUES: Rivals Morgan State and Coppin State will meet for the 95th time in Round 1 of the annual 'East vs. West' season series on Saturday, Jan. 31 at PEC Arena. Morgan State would win last season's finale, 59-54 to split the season series. The Lady Bears lead the all-time series, 48-46. Morgan State has won 14 of the last 18 regular season contests over the Eagles. Also known as the 'Battle of Baltimore' or simply 'Coppin-Morgan', this season will mark the sixth consecutive season that Morgan State and Coppin State will close out the regular season playing against each other in the season finale (March 5, 2026) at Hill Field House.

THE STREAK IS OVER: The Morgan State women's basketball team put an end to its season-long 14-game losing streak with its 64-63 victory over North Carolina Central (1/8). It was the program's third longest losing streak on the Division I level. The Lady Bears, who trailed 29-22 at halftime and 34-24 early in the third quarter, used a 20-0 run to gain momentum and take a 44-34 advantage with 2:56 left in the third. Morgan State would then have to stage off a comeback by Eagles.

IT WON'T BE US: Despite its 91-33 loss to fifth-ranked LSU (12/16), Morgan State joined iconic women's basketball programs Duke and Louisiana Tech. While all three were dealt a loss to LSU, they are also the only three programs thus far this season to hold the high-powered LSU Tigers under 100 points. LSU, which improved to 12-0 in the win over Morgan, began the season eclipsing the 100-point mark in its first eight games and has reached 100 points in nine of its 12 contests.

BANNERMAN SETS CAREER-HIGH IN SCORING: Senior guard Ja'la Bannerman scored a game- and career-high 32 points at UCF (12/14). A native of Baltimore, Bannerman shot 10-of-19 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from three-point range and connected on all six of her free throw attempts. Bannerman, who was held to two points in the first half, scored 11 points in the third quarter and then exploded to score all 19 of Morgan's fourth quarter points. Her 32-point outing surpassed her previous career high of 25 points she scored earlier this season against Washington Adventist (11/12).

CHARM CITY HOOPS CLASSIC: Morgan State will begin the 2025 Charm City Hoops Classic hosting UMBC on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. at Hill Field House. The Lady Bears will conclude the event with a trip to Towson, Md. to face the Tigers on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 3 p.m. Last year the Lady Bears finished 1-1 last year for the second consecutive season in the Charm City Hoops Classic. The Lady Bears defeated Towson, 64-63 at home (11/14), before falling on the road to UMBC, 81-72 (11/17). In 2023, local foes Morgan State, Towson and UMBC agreed to play each other every year in both men's and women's basketball in what is being billed as the Charm City Hoops Classic. Last season the Lady Bears also split their contests in the inaugural classic, falling on the road to Towson (80-69), before defeating UMBC (65-42) at home. The three schools previously participated in the Battle of Baltimore series for six seasons from the 1997-98 season through the 2002-03 campaign.

MORGAN STATE IN PUERTO RICO: Morgan State concluded its eighth time participating in a Puerto Rico sponsored event and the program's seventh trip to Puerto Rico and first time competing in the Puerto Rico Shootout (Nov. 26-28). Morgan State appeared seven times in the Puerto Rico Clasico event beginning with the 2016-17 season. The 2017 tournament was moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. due to the damage of Hurricane Maria. Morgan State did not attend during the 2020-21 campaign due to an abbreviated schedule because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Lady Bears finished this season dropping all three games in San Juan and fell to 2-14 all-time in Puerto Rico, following a 101-39 loss to 16th-ranked Kentucky in the finale (11/28).
