Lady Bears To Compete In DeMarini Tiger Clash

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 26, 2026)--Morgan State will stay close to home this weekend as it takes part in the TU DeMarini Tiger Clash, hosted by Towson (Feb. 27-March 1).
 
The Lady Bears will take on Cornell, Merrimack and Towson throughout the weekend. All games will be played at Tiger Softball Stadium in Towson, Md.
 
Morgan State (0-5) was scheduled to open up against the host Towson Tigers on Thursday, but due to forecast of inclement weather, changes were made to the original tournament schedule.
 
The Orange & Blue will now face Cornell in the opener on Friday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m., before facing the rival Tigers at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Bears will again open the day against the Big Red of Cornell at 10 a.m. and will take on Merrimack at 12:30 p.m. Morgan State will close out the tournament on Sunday, March 1 with a 3 p.m. contest against Towson.
 
Morgan State (0-5) began the season last week playing in Spartansburg, S.C. in both the Sparkle City Invite and the Upstate Classic, co-hosted by Wofford and University of South Carolina -Upstate, respectively. Hunter Newman tallied a team-best five hits, including the team's lone home run. Jayla Campos leads the team with a .400 batting average with four hits. Olivia Pagano also recorded four hits and scored a team-best three runs. Gianna Ettore leads the Lady Bears with 3RBI.
 
Cornell (2-3) after having its opening weekend at George Mason canceled due to the weather, also opened its season last weekend, as it took part in the Frost Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The Big Red enter this weekend on a two-game losing skid after dropping back-to-back one-run games in extra innings to host UT Chattanooga (2-1 in 8 innings) and UIC (6-5 in 9 innings). Charlize Cai leads the Big Red with nine hits and seven runs, while Lauren Holt has recorded eight hits, two runs and a team-high 5RBI.
 
Merrimack (0-5) began its season in Las Vegas, Nev. at the UNLV Rebel Classic. Sam Russalesi leads the Warriors with four hits, while Jamie Calkins and Madeline Arvai each have three hits. Abby Choquette and Arvai lead the team with 2RBI each.
 
Towson (5-7) enters the weekend on a two-game losing skid, after going 2-2 last week at the Pirate Clash hosted by East Carolina. The Tigers' last three games all went 8 innings, with the Tigers defeating East Carolina 2-0, before falling 10-9 to James Madison and 4-3 to East Carolina. Kaci Benton is batting a team-best .477 and leads the Tigers with 21 hits and 14 runs. Grace Franczyk has 13 hits and 12RBI, Addie Ferguson has a team-leading 13RBI.
