BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 19, 2026)--The Melisa Shock era gets underway at Morgan State this weekend when the first-year head coach leads the softball team in what will be a busy season opening three days in Spartanburg, S.C.
 
The Lady Bears will take part in two tournaments, co-hosted by Wofford and the University of South Carolina-Upstate. Morgan State will first take part in the Sparkle City Invite hosted by Wofford on Friday, Feb. 20, when it opens the season against Robert Morris at 11 a.m. The Lady Bears will conclude Day 1 against host Wofford at 1:30 p.m. live on ESPN+.
 
On Saturday, Morgan State will compete in the Upstate Classic, hosted by South Carolina-Upstate. The Lady Bears will open tournament play for the second consecutive day against Robert Morris at 11 a.m., before facing host USC-Upstate at 4 p.m.
 
Morgan State concludes the Upstate Classic and the weekend against Harvard on Sunday, Feb. 22 morning at 10 a.m.
 
The Lady Bears are coming off an 18-29 overall mark and 12-9 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) a year ago.
 
Morgan State was picked to finish seventh in this season's MEAC Preseason poll. Senior shortstop Tonya Marks was named to the MEAC Preseason First Team, while junior pitcher Serena Rodriguez was named to the second team.
