Lady Bears Avoid Shutout At Navy, 6-1

Box Score ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Jan. 24, 2026)--The Morgan State women's tennis team took a trip to the United States Naval Academy (Navy) for a non-conference match against the Midshipmen on Saturday afternoon at Tose Family Tennis Center. The Lady Bears would fall, 6-1.
 
Navy remained unbeaten on the season, improving to 4-0 on the spring campaign and 12-0 all-time against the Lady Bears. Morgan State dropped to 0-2 on the young season.
 
Morgan State came out strong in the doubles play, as it picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with Lauryn Hall and Marta Serra-Carles defeating Navy's team of Emma Gu and Anna Wiskowski 6-3. However, Navy would win the doubles point following victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
 
The Midshipmen went on to claim five of the six singles contests to win the match. The Lady Bears' lone victory came at the No. 1 position, where Michaela Stephens defeated Olivia Fermo of Navy 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-3) for Morgan's lone point on the day.
 
Morgan's Tyler Williams also forced a third set when she won the opening set of her No. 6 singles match against Navy's Anna Wiskowski. Williams claimed the opener 6-4, before falling 3-6 and 0-1 (3-10).
 
Next Up: The Lady Bears return to the courts on Friday, Jan. 30 when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on George Washington at 11 a.m. at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
