Despite the valiant effort, Morgan State finished the weekend going 2-1 after suffering an unfortunate 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 18-25, 22-25) loss to Kent State.
The Bears came out with a lot of energy in the opening set and earned a 25-23 victory.
"The team played more disciplined today. We did reduce the errors a little bit more that we were hoping for," said Morgan State head coach Xiomara Ortiz.
The Kent State Golden Flashes won the second set in a nail-biter with the same score as the opening set 25-23. Making the match even at 1-1 through two sets.

Williams is now two blocks shy of passing Dominique Bozier (233 from 2007-10) for seventh on the career charts.
Coach Ortiz also praised Williams' performance. "Yet again an awesome day. Seven kills, no errors and she had the most blocks. She just continues to be a very big all-star for us," said Ortiz.
The Bears look to rebound in their next match on the road against George Mason in Fairfax, Va., on Friday, September 12th in the opener of the Battle of The Beltway. Morgan State will return home on Saturday, Sept. 13 to host Georgetown, before closing out the tournament with a trip to the Nation's Capital on Sunday, Sept. 14 at George Washington in Washington, D.C.
