BALTIMORE, Md. ( August 17, 2025) - Morgan State University football welcomed members of the media to campus for its 2025 Media Day, held inside the University Student Center. Local television, print, radio, and online outlets were on hand to hear from head coach Damon Wilson and six returning student-athletes as the Bears prepare for the upcoming season.
Wilson, entering his fourth year at the helm, opened the press conference with an address that set the tone for the afternoon. He reflected on the team's progress during the offseason, highlighted areas of growth, and fielded questions about expectations as the Bears continue building momentum in the MEAC.
"We've been getting after it now for two weeks, getting ready for our first game against South Alabama," said Wilson. "The guys have been doing a really good job. We finished up with a scrimmage yesterday and saw a lot of positivity coming out of our ball club. Defensively, guys are finally flying around and making plays. Offensively, we've seen some young guys step up and show their athletic abilities. We're really excited about where we are right now."
Following Coach Wilson's remarks, six players representing both sides of the ball shared their perspectives with the media: linebacker Erick Hunter, defensive lineman Jordan Jeudy, running back Jason Collins Jr., offensive lineman Tyler Thomas, wide receiver Malique Leatherbury, and quarterback Kobe Muasau. Each spoke about summer preparation, team chemistry, and the drive to set a winning standard.
After the press conference portion, members of the media were given the opportunity for one-on-one interviews with players and coaches, allowing for more in-depth conversations about individual roles and goals for the season.
When asked about the team chemistry and camaraderie, Hunter volunteered to answer the question, "It's about spending time with each other. We all had the opportunity to stay in two different buildings the entire summer. So we took time to spend time with the guys and get to know everybody, whether it's new guys coming in or incoming freshman. We've done a couple of team activities, whether it's a pool activity or a cookout. Just to be able to get to know guys outside of your helmets. On the defensive side, we did a couple talents shows we did in our meetings. Things to get to know everybody, get some personality going, and at the end of the day know who's lining up against you."
Morgan State opens its 2025 campaign on the road against South Alabama on Saturday, August 30. Kickoff will mark the first chance for the Bears to showcase their growth and set the tone for what they hope will be a strong year in conference play.
