ORLANDO, Fla. (March 19, 2025) -- The Morgan State women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday morning, as they swept the Milwaukee Panthers 4-0 at the USTA Center.
From the first serve to the final point, the Bears left no room for doubt, securing a decisive victory, notching their fourth win in their last six outings.
Despite an initial stumble, the Lady Bears demonstrated resilience in doubles play, ultimately securing the crucial point. After Aleksandra Evdokimova and Mart Serra Charles dropped their match on court 1, the pressure was on. However, the team responded emphatically. Hannah Smith and Lauryn Hall battled their way to a hard-fought 6-4 victory on court 2, leveling the score. Tyler Williams and Julia Jeffrey then sealed the deal with a dominant 6-1 performance on court 3, ensuring the Lady Bears entered singles competition with a 1-0 advantage.
The Lady Bears (4-7) secured the decisive victory, fueled by strong individual performances across the board.
William recorded a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win against Giorgia Cavestro, while Julia Jeffrey mirrored that success with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory over Emilia Durska on court 4. The morning culminated in Lauryn Hall's 6-4, 6-2 triumph against Elisa Rubio, sealing the overall win for the team.
According to Morgan Head Coach Matthew Townes, it was a true team effort, highlighting the resilience of the team to secure the doubles point despite facing adversity. He specifically praised Lauryn Hall for clinching the match and delivering the final victory.
