LYNCHBURG, Va. (Feb. 15, 2025) — The Morgan State men's indoor track and field team showcased their talent at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, held on February 14-15 at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. This annual competition, hosted by Liberty University, attracted a diverse field of athletes from various institutions, and the Morgan State Bears were eager to make their mark.
Facing off against a competitive field of seasoned athletes, the Bears rose to the occasion and delivered an impressive performance, the Bears secured three individual top-5 finishes. Among these, one athlete shone the brightest, clinching a first-place finish.
How it Happened
● Freshman distance runner Samuel Skinner crossed the tape for a first place finish in the 800-meter run as he posted a personal best 1:54.10. Rushshane Fullerton ran a 1:56.06 to finish in 13th place. Skinner also placed 3rd in the 500m dash with a time of 1:04.74.
● Freshman Maxim Copeland turned in a personal best time of 49.30 to take 11th place in the 400m dash.
● In the 400m Dash Invite, junior Dante Jackson placed 16th with a time of 49.46, while junior teammate Antonio Sims ran a time of 50.97 to place 21st.
● Junior Zackery Dillon finished 12th place in the shot put with a distance of 15.32 meters.
● Junior Omari McKenzie took 5th place in the triple jump with a distance of 14.35, while freshman Kesean-Jordan Rhooms placed 16th with a mark of 13.85m.
● Rhooms cleared 1.91-meters to place 11th in the high jump open.
