NORFOLK, Va. (May 1
7, 2025) — The Morgan State men's track & field team capped off the 2025 MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a strong performance on the final day of competition. Competing at Dick Price Stadium on Norfolk State University's campus, the Bears secured several solid results.

Morgan registered a score of 67 points to place seventh in team scoring. Norfolk State dominated the event, securing the championship title with an impressive 227 points. This victory marked a significant milestone for Norfolk State, representing their 13th all-time outdoor track and field championship.

Coppin State finished as runners-up with 111.5 points and Howard finished third with 111.5 points, North Carolina Central (93) and South Carolina State (81), Delaware State (71) and Maryland-Eastern Shore (52) rounded out the team standings.

One of the highlights for Morgan was the outstanding performance of Caleb Mincey, who captured gold in the 1500-meter run. Mincey crossed the tape with a personal best time of 3:55.06. The freshman's performance not only secured a crucial win for the team but also signaled a bright future for Morgan's track and field program.

 



Dante Jackson secured a hard-fought bronze medal in the 400-meter finals. He clocked in with a time of 47.28, finishing narrowly behind Norfolk State's formidable duo, Premier Wynn, who claimed gold with a time of 46.53, and Kendrick Winfield, who snatched silver at 46.69. 

In the 800-meter finals, Rushshane Fullerton captured bronze by turning in a time of 1:53.91. Caleb Mincey contributed to the team's efforts with a respectable seventh-place finish, completing the race in 1:55.68.

Morgan State's 4x100-meter relay team, comprised of Jadon Ra-Akbar, Dante Jackson, Maxim Copeland and Doyin Smith finished in sixth place with a time of 41.26. Coppin State took the gold by winning the relay in 39.84 – besting Maryland Eastern Shore by just .36 seconds.

The Bears' 4x400 meter relay team, comprised of Maxim Copeland, Dante Jackson, Doyin Smith and Antonio Sims finished in fourth place with a season best time of 3:15.07. Norfolk State won gold by breaking the tape in 3:09.34, just ahead of Howard who posted a time of 3:09.36.

KeSean-Jordan Rhooms ultimately securing a seventh-place finish in the triple jump. His best leap of the day measured a personal best 14.36 meters.
