BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 26, 2025)—
Hanna Nemeth recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, both team highs, to lead Morgan State past rival Howard, 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 27-25, 26-24) on Sunday afternoon at Hill Field House.
With the win, the Bears improved to 9-10, 6-3 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and avenged a five-set loss to the Bison earlier in the season. Howard dropped to 11-9, 5-4 in the MEAC.
Mya Karrick totaled 28 assists, nine digs and four kills, while
Mikaela Esparza added 11 digs to help Morgan end a 12-match losing skid to Howard.
Mele Taumoepeau finished with nine digs and
Tameary Wardlaw had eight.
Jada Williams tallied seven kills and
Aubrey Wilson had six.
Howard was paced by Aziah Bucknar's double-double of 15 kills and 17 digs. Rya McKinnon also had 15 kills and nine digs, while Camryn Shelton tallied 17 digs. Leah Reeves led the way with a match-high 49 assists to go with eight digs and two kills. Claire Simpson totaled 14 digs and Kristen Dear finished with 10 kills.
Morgan State carried an 11.0-7.0 block advantage over Howard. Wilson led the Bears with a match-best six blocks, including three solo blocks to give her 133 for her career. Williams had three blocks, including two solo blocks to give her 264 for her career and move her past Tasha Neal (262 from 2000-03) into fifth all-time at Morgan.
The Bison were led by Reeves and Zenai Jethroe, who both had three total blocks. Reeves finished with two solo blocks, while Jethroe had one.
Morgan State will now head on the road when it travels to Durham, N.C. to take on North Carolina Central in a MEAC Halloween match on Friday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m.
