Morgan Earns Singles Victories On Day 2 Of Gold Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Oct. 11, 2025)--The Morgan State men's tennis team continued play on Saturday in the Gold Invitational hosted by Navy. The Bears would pick up four wins on the day.
 
In the Round of 64 Singles A action, Majdi Ben Abdelwehid entered the day as the 12th seed and defeated 11th seed Kendrick Lash of Howard 6-2, 6-1.
 
Mohamed Ridha Ghettas would also advance, as the 28th seed defeated 27th seed Dylan Coonerty of Loyola Maryland 7-5, 6-2.
 
In other Singles A matches, fourth seed Yessine Kerouat lost to third seed Delaware's Luke Tollenaar, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Sixth-seeded Roman Filima lost to Navy's Charlie Spencer, the fifth seed, 3-6, 6-4 (9-11).
 
Jacob Poole, who was ranked 34th, fell to 33rd ranked Alejandro Rotundo of Loyola Maryland 2-6, 6-3, (7-10).
 
No. 40 Antonio Santos would fall to No. 39 Zack Giertz of Navy 3-6, 6-7 (3-7).
 
Morgan State would also pick up two more win in the Singles B pool play. No. 26 Mohamed Ridha Ghettas secured a straight sets victory over No. 25 Ian Perl of Loyola Maryland 6-2, 6-2.
 
Antonio Santos, who was seeded 38th, rounded out play for Morgan State with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Loyola Maryland's Aidan Francia Cotter, the 37th seed.
 
No. 2 Yessine Kerouat lost to No. 1 Kaosie Nwokedi of Howard in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
 
No. 8 Roman Filima lost to Navy's No. 7 Jeffrey Etterbeek 6-2, 6-0, while Majdi Ben Abdelwehid, who was the 10th seed, lost to No. 9 Luke Tollenaar of Delaware 6-0, 6-1.
 
The Bears will wrap up competition in the Gold Invitational on Sunday.
