BALTIMORE, Md. (August 31, 2024)--Morgan State ended Day 2 of the Morgan/Towson Invitational welcoming Saint Francis to Hill Field House on Saturday evening. The visiting Red Flash would earn a 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 26-18) non-conference victory.

Morgan State would drop to 0-3 on the season, while Saint Francis-Pa. concluded the tournament with a 1-3 mark. now 0-3 in the tournament.

Morgan State's offense was led by standout newcomer
Addison Metts, who delivered a solid performance with seven kills. Metts also posted a hitting percentage of .250 and played a key role defensively, contributing five digs, particularly in the crucial fourth set.

In addition to Metts' efforts,
Mya Karrick showcased an impressive performance with a hitting percentage of .667, recording two kills on three attempts, while adding five assists.

Madison Grace added five kills and three blocks.
Jada Williams finished with a match-high seven blocks, including three solo blocks.

Saint Francis was led by standout Maggie Hogan, who delivered a notable performance with 13 kills, four digs and three service aces. Teammate Aaliyah Toppin also played a crucial role in the Red Flash's success, contributing 12 kills and six digs. Toppin's dynamic play added significant pressure to the Morgan State defense, highlighting her importance in the team's attacking strategy.

The Red Flash's offensive efficiency was further supported by the precise setting of Alexandra Sappia, who recorded 20 assists. Emma Fenton also made a substantial impact with 16 assists, facilitating the team's attacking flow and ensuring the effective execution of plays.

Saint Francis-Pa. recorded 22 service aces for the evening. Drew Wallech finished with a match-high eight aces.

The Bears will close out the Morgan/Towson Invitational on Sunday, when they head to Towson to face rival and co-host Towson at 1p.m. at SECU Arena.
