MSU Athletics' 50 for 50 Birthday Fundraising Challenge

The month of May brings the end of the athletic season, the 2024 commencement exercises and the 50th birthday of Morgan State University's Athletic Director, Dena Freeman-Patton.

In honor of Dena's birthday, we are announcing the 50 for 50 Birthday Challenge to support the Athletic Director's Fund. The Athletic Director's Fund provides critical support for Morgan State athletes to have an enhanced educational experience through travel, cultural enrichment and exposure. Through these activities, they develop a global mindset and gain a deeper appreciation for human diversity which shapes their overall educational experience.

Dena has kicked off the challenge with a personal gift of $5,000, and she hopes to garner 50+ supporters and raise $50,000 by her birthday which is May 28th.

Our athletes consistently demonstrate their talent and commitment representing the University locally, nationally, and internationally. They also learn invaluable lessons about perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship that will serve them well throughout their lives. However, the pursuit of greatness comes with its challenges, and we need your support to ensure they have the resources necessary to compete at the highest level. Your support will directly impact the success of our programs.

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Together, we can empower our athletes to reach new heights and inspire our community with their achievements. Join us in shaping the future of Division One Athletics and help us continue to make our mark in the world of sports.

Thank you for your generosity and unwavering support.

Dena's quote:
"I've been afforded so many great opportunities through sports in my 50 years of life.  This year, we wanted to use my birthday as a way to give back to our student-athletes."

"The 50 for 50 challenge started as a mere idea that has developed so wonderfully into a plan of action to allow for sports to travel abroad and put our "Bears on the Map!"
