NORFOLK, Va. (May 8, 2024)--Morgan State senior
Ishana Asinor captured the pole vault title at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, by setting a new personal and school record with a mark of 11-11.50 (3.65m), while
Johnelle Johnson also captured gold in the discus throw with a throw of 158-4.75. (48.28m). It would be Morgan State's only gold medals during the three-day meet, which was held at Dick Price Stadium on the campus of Norfolk State University (May 6-8).

As a team, the Lady Bears would finish fifth with 72 points. Howard claimed the team title with 231 points to win its third consecutive outdoor championship. Host Norfolk State came in second with 199 points, while Delaware State (94.5) and South Carolina State (79), placed third and fourth, respectively.

Howard head coach David Oliver was named Outstanding Coach of the Meet, while Norfolk State's Mercyline Kimaiyo was named Outstanding Runner and teammate Leslie Young was garnered Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet.

Johnson would also bring home two silver medals in the shot put with a season-best 43-5.50 (13.25m) and in the hammer throw 1680-03.50 (51.30m).

Brylan Carter put together a season-best 127-1.75 (38.76m) to place fourth in the discus, while also finishing fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 113-1.75 (34.49m).

On the track,
Crystal Coke finished fourth in the 3000 steeplechase, completing the race in a time of 12:23.71. Coke would also place sixth in the 1000 meter run in a time of 42:16.05.

Denisha McLaurin placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 14.30.

Jessica Lamborn came in seventh in the 1500 meter run, finishing in 4:52.88.Â
