BALTIMORE, Md. (April 5, 2024)--The Morgan State softball team will welcome defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) champion North Carolina Central to Lois T. Murray Field this weekend for a three-game series.
 
The Lady Bears and Eagles get underway with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., before closing out the series with a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
Last season the Lady Bears swept the doubleheader in Durham, N.C., outscoring the Eagles 9-0 in the two games. The third contest was canceled. Morgan State has won the last 10 meetings in the series.
 
Morgan State (19-13, 8-1 MEAC) is coming off a series sweep on the road at South Carolina State (March 29-30). The Lady Bears would outscore the Lady Bulldogs 16-2 in the three games, including a 5-1 win in the finale.
 
North Carolina Central (9-27, 5-4 MEAC) enters the weekend riding a four-game losing streak. The Eagles are coming off a midweek doubleheader loss to visiting Western Carolina on Thursday. NCCU would fall 9-1 and 7-5. In their last MEAC series (March 29-30), the Eagles dropped their final two games at home against Coppin State, after winning the opener 5-0.
 
BEAR PAWS
- Morgan State is 13-2 at home this season and has won its last five at Lois T. Murray Field.
 
- The Lady Bears have won 10 straight over North Carolina Central.
 
- Senior Anaya Hunte was named MEAC Pitcher of the Week, while Ellie Bostedt was named MEAC Rookie of the Week on April 2. It was the second weekly honor for both Hunte and Bostedt.
