Morgan State Shuts Out Coppin, 7-0

Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. (April 8, 2024)--The Lady Bears returned to the tennis courts on Sunday afternoon as they hosted rival Coppin State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match at the UMBC Tennis Courts.
 
The Lady Bears would cruise to a 7-0 victory over their rivals to improve to 4-11, 3-1 in the MEAC. The win was the second straight for Morgan State and its fourth in the last five contests. Coppin State fell to 0-9, 0-5 MEAC).
 
Morgan State swept the two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Lauryn Hall and Jianna Benton earned a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles and the No. 1 tandem of Aleksandra Edovkimova and Stefania Moysiadi also won 6-0.
 
In singles action, only the top three matches were played and the Lady Bears earned default victories in the final three.
 
Edvokimova defeated Megan Etienne, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 and Hall picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Moysiadi claimed victory in the final match played, defeating Alison Azarak in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Next up: Morgan State is back in action on Wednesday, April 10, when it travels to Annapolis, Md. to face Navy. First serve is at 3 p.m.
