NORFOLK, Va. (March 12, 2024)--Morgan State guard
Tamaria Rumph was named to the 2023-24 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Rookie Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday at the Attucks Theater.

The all-conference honors, presented by Wells Fargo, were voted on by the league's head women's basketball coaches and sports information directors.

Rumph's selection marks the seventh consecutive season Morgan State has had at least one player earn All-MEAC honors under the guidance of head coach Ed Davis, thus keeping the streak alive of having an all-conference selection in every season since being named head coach prior to the 2017-18 campaign.

She also becomes the Lady Bear in a row named to the MEAC All-Rookie team. Sophomore guard
Gabrielle Johnson was named to the rookie team last season.

A native of Sacramento, Calif., Rumph finished third on the team in scoring at 6.7 points per game, while averaging 2.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per contest. She led the team in assists with 51 and was third in steals with 37. Rumph ranked amongst MEAC leaders in assists (11th) and steals (14th).

Rumph was joined on the MEAC All-Rookie team by Kyla Bryant (North Carolina Central), Tyana Walker (Howard), Da'Brya Clark and Anjanae Richardson (Norfolk State).

Recipients of the MEAC's top awards were: Player of the Year (Kierra Wheeler, Norfolk State); Defensive Player of the Year (Laila Lawrence, Coppin State); Rookie of the Year (Tyana Walker, Howard); Newcomer of the Year (Diamond Johnson, Norfolk State); 6
th Player of the Year (Faith Blackstone, Coppin State) and Coach of the Year (Larry Vickers, Norfolk State).

The Lady Bears completed the regular-season 8-21, 3-11 in the MEAC to finish in seventh place and the No. 7 seed in this week's conference tournament.

The 2023-24 regular season champion, First Team honorees and other award winners, including Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, 6th Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Coach of the Year, will be recognized in pre-game presentations prior to the honorees' first games in tournament play.

Tournament play begins Wednesday, March 13 and runs through Saturday, March 16 at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. Morgan State will take on #2 Howard on Wednesday, March 13 at 2 p.m.
