The short story: Redshirt senior forward Will Thomas scored 18 of his game—high 27 points in the second half to help Morgan State pull away with an 86-76 win against Campbell on Sunday afternoon at Hill Field House.
OPENING TIP
- Thomas, a Preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, shot an efficient on 12-of-19 from the field, including 1-for-2 from 3-point territory and had seven rebounds in 32 minutes.
- Morgan also had double-figure scoring from Kameron Hobbs who finished with a season-high 21 points (8-12 FG) with a game-high five assists to go along with four boards in 37 minutes.
- Marland Harris added nine points (4-5 FG) with seven boards and two blocks for the Bears.
- Nolan Dorsey led the Camels with 21 points (7-11 FG) and six rebounds. Jasin Sinani scored 16 points with six boards and four assists, while Israel Yaw chipped in 10 points off the bench.
THE DIFFERENCE
- Morgan shot 67 percent (36-54) from the field, including 73 percent (22-30) in the second half. The Bears also shot 43 percent (3-7) from behind the arc while the Camels shot 40 percent (23-58) from the field and connected on 9-of-25 3-pointers.
- Morgan shot 11-for-17 (65%) from the free throw line, compared to Campbell's 88 percent (21-24).
- The Bears held a 32-27 edge on the boards, and held a 48-28 scoring advantage inside the paint.

- Campbell's bench scored 19 points, compared to Morgan's 16.
- Thomas scored on his first three shots of the game and helped the Bears build an 11-5 lead during the early going. Frank split a pair fo free throws to trim the Bears lead to 15-13 with 11 minutes remaining, but Kameron Hobbs fed Daniel Akitoby for a two-handed dunk that helped ignite an 11-3 run. A layup by Marland Harris gave Morgan a 26-16 lead with 6 minutes left in the half.
- Campbell outscored the Bears 17-5 in a crucial stretch just before halftime. Dorsey netted 7 points during the sequence, as the Camels would go into the lockerroom with a 33-31 halftime lead.
- The game was tied at 51 following a layup by Nolan Dorsey with just under 12 minutes remaining. The Bears responded when Marland Harris scored on a sensational tip-dunk. The play not only energized his teammates but also helped initiate a decisive 14-4 run for the Bears over the next five minutes. Will Thomas was pivotal during the stretch, sinking shot after shot, contributing 8 points to extend the Bears' lead to 65-55 lead with 6 minutes remaining. This marked their largest lead of the game, a cushion that the Camels were unable to overcome in the end..

- The win by Morgan improves their series record against Campbell to 3-1 ... it was the Bears' first win against the Camels since an an 82-66 win at Hill Field House on Nov. 19, 2016.
- Morgan's home record improves to 6-2.
