NORFOLK, Va. (November 10, 2024)--Morgan State closed out its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season road schedule with a 3-0 (25-17, 28-26, 25-18) loss at Norfolk State on Sunday afternoon at Gill Gymnasium.
Daniela Ferreira led the Bears with 10 kills and
Madison Grace added eight.
Mya Karrick totaled 17 assists and
Trinity Carruthers added 10.
Paula Sigurani and Karrick each had a team-high six digs.

Norfolk State (13-13, 7-6 MEAC) was led by Gabrielle Gilbert, who hit.522 and finished with a match-high 14 kills. Sydney McCree totaled 20 assists and Jasmine Mataira finished with 11. Lily Rose-Pichon had a match-high 10 digs to lead the Spartans.

McCree and Gilbert each had three aces, as the host Spartans finished with 11 service aces.

As a team, Norfolk State ended the match hitting .333 with 42 kills. The Spartans had a set-best 16 kills and hit .438 in Set 2.

Morgan State (6-21, 2-11 MEAC) also played its best volleyball in Set 2. The Bears recorded a whopping 20 kills and hit .375 in the second set.

Morgan State will conclude the regular season on Friday, Nov. 15 when it hosts rival Coppin State at 6 p.m. at Hill Field House. The match will be Senior Night for the Bears, as Morgan State will honor its five seniors (
Trinity Carruthers,
Erin Carpenter,
Ainara Fernandes,
Addison Metts and
Madison Grace) prior to the contest.
