BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 13, 2024)--The Morgan State volleyball team will host Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foe Norfolk State this Sunday afternoon in a Pink Out match at Hill Field House. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Morgan State will have a special presentation prior to the start of the match.
Morgan State (5-14, 1-4 MEAC) enters the contest on a two-match losing skid, following a 3-0 loss at Howard on Friday evening in Washington, D.C.
Addison Metts led Morgan in kills (7) and digs (9) and
Mya Karrick totaled a team-high 19 assists. The Bears held a 9.0-3.0 advantage over Howard in blocks with
Aubrey Wilson leading the way with a match-high four blocks, while
Ainara Fernandes added three blocks, including a match-high two solos. Metts also finished with three blocks.
Norfolk State (7-10, 2-3 MEAC), which is also on a two-match losing skid, is coming off a 3-1 loss at defending MEAC champion Coppin State on Friday. It was the seventh consecutive loss to the Eagles.
Gabrielle Gilbert recorded a double-double with a match-high 16 kills and added 10 digs, while Alexa Harris added 12 kills to pace the Spartans. Sydney McCree finished with a match-best 38 assists and Lily Rose-Pichon had a match-high 23 digs.
Last season the Bears and Norfolk State split the season series, each winning on their home floors. Morgan State leads the all-time series, 25-11.
