Morgan State Drops Opener At West Virginia, 7-0

Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Jan. 20, 2024)--The Morgan State women's tennis team began the 2024 season with a 7-0 non-conference loss to West Virginia on Saturday at Summit Tennis Academy.
 
West Virginia, which began the day defeating Duquesne in its season opener, improved to 2-0 on the season, while Morgan State dropped to 0-1.
 
The Lady Bears' Iva Jankovic, playing at No. 6 singles, had a strong start jumping out to a 6-0 victory in Set 1. The Mountaineers' Catherine Wassick would regroup to earn a 7-5 victory in Set 2, before claiming the tiebreak set, 11-9.
     
Next Up: The Lady Bears will host Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at Coppermine Bare Hills in Baltimore. It will be the home opener for Morgan State.
