Morgan set to play four exhibition games in Belgium-France Tour

The Bears are set to play in Europe as part of a 9-day trip.

BALTIMORE, Md. (Aug. 11, 2023) – The Morgan State Bears are set to play in four exhibition games in Europe as part of a 9-day trip, which begins in Belgium.

The Bears will leave for Europe on August 11 and return on August 19.

On Sunday, August 13, the Bears will travel to Brugge to play Kontich in Game 1 before moving on to Antwerp to play Gembo in Game 2.  Morgan will play Waregem in Game 3 on Tuesday, August 15 in Brussels. Then the team will travel to Paris, France, highlighted by a boat tour on the Seine River, before playing their final game on Wednesday, August 16 against Charleroi.

The games are not expected to be on television or streamed online.

The Bears return senior starting guard Kamron Hobbs and junior forward Will Thomas this season. Sophomore guard Rob Lawson and senior guard Kevon Wiggins return to a Morgan squad that will enter the season with ten (10) newcomers suiting up for the Bears.

It's a trip Hobbs is looking forward to.

"For me I'm looking to improve on my downfalls or any doubts I have going into the season," said Hobbs. "For the team this is an opportunity to show our coach and supporters that we have been working and that we have a good future to look forward to."

"Off the court, every time we get to go outside of Baltimore it's always going to be a great experience just because of the exposure to the real world we get. Overall, I'm hoping to better myself mentally and physically, but I'm also looking forward to see how good me and my teammates collide together on the court. It'll be a great experience away from school for the team!"
